Position Purpose & Overview    
Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the Accountant position is responsible for various accounting functions relating to CFSA funds and Supporting Organizations.  Job duties include, but are not limited to, creating journal entries, financial reports, reconciliations, audit schedules and assistance with budget preparation.

Duties & Responsibilities    

  • Daily review and posting of bank deposits, various bank activity, and bank exceptions. 
  • Assist in gift processes throughout the foundation to ensure proper allocation of receipts and the timely and proper acknowledgement of donors; includes posting of daily check receipts and posting gift logs in database.
  • Assist in grant processing; review data entry, ensure proper fund usage and allocation, confirm grantee information, cut checks weekly.
  • Assist in vendor invoice process; review data entry, ensure proper fund and general ledger coding, cut checks weekly.
  • Perform bank statement reconciliations (including checking and investment accounts)
  • Participate in month-end processes, journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare financials for various project funds, affiliates and supporting organizations.
  • Assist in annual budget process.
  • Prepare various audit and 990 schedules.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills 

  • Education equivalent to an Associate Degree in Accounting and/or three to five years of related accounting experience.
  • High level of computer proficiency (Windows environment) and outstanding computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Able to work in fast-paced work environment with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong customer service, teamwork, and collaboration skills.

Ancillary/Preferred Skills    

  • Experience with database and other standard software to create complex documents and materials requiring the interpretation and manipulation of data.
  • Nonprofit experience preferred and/or interest in working in nonprofit field.
  • Experience with various investment brokerage account reconciliations a plus.

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $58,000, commensurate with experience.
